Good game, especially considering it was his first.

But can we appeal his sending off?

Don't believe there is any way of overturning yellow cards unless it is mistaken identity possibly.
Probably the softest most incompetent sending off of the season but typical of the shit we are dealt by the bozos with the whistles.
Still waiting for the last howler of a decision in our favour.

Re: creswell
Been away a couple of days and just cannot believe the two cards were not overturned. Every commentator I heard, including the ex ref on BT Sports, saw the first as a penalty and the second harsh. What an arrogant sod Atkinson is and what a lousy rule which restricts the club (s) from making an appeal.

Feghouli at left wing back. It's only Sunderland

I see Martin atkinson has been promoted by the fa to referee Chelsea vs man utd this Sunday.

This only fuels the rumours that they have it in for us. He doesn't get demoted but gets praised

How many games does he miss and have we made sure that the ref is fucked and off the premiership list.

I think you've called that right regarding Antonio & Nordtveit

I can't see that there's too many other options either, much as I worry about Nordtveit playing

Hopefully he'll step up to the plate

Looked just like a West Ham team from the mid-to-late 1990s.

A thoroughly likeable young man, who just gets on with his job and has a sensible haircut.

Re: creswell
I don't fancy Oggy as a wingback, he isn't quick enough and doesn't work the flanks well enough. problem is we are lacking in players that can play there what with byram, masuaku and arbeloa all out. i thikn he will probably look at bringing nordveit in on either flank with antonio on the other.

sorry alf you saying Oggy left wing back sat?

Re: creswell
The key to improvement was moving Kouyate. Many of us wanted him benched due to his dreadful contribution in midfield this season where he was anonymous for 7 games and could not pass or control a football.

Pushing him into a back 3 was a master stroke and solved several problems. It got him out of midfield but allowed the full backs to become wing backs who had cover and thus Antonio could be played there. Obiang patrolling in front of the defence also worked well.

Seems that Bilic has found a system that is far better suited to the players he has been picking. Simple as that. The fitness and intensity of every player of course should not be discounted but the players looked far more assured and a much more compact unit when defending and breaking.

Arthur would also be better suited to the wing back role I would think.

But for the next game we do not have anyone that can fulfil that role on the left. Ogbonna will probably shift over and the CB 3 will be Reid, Collins and Kouyate although I would be tempted to try Oxford who would arguably be better protected in a 3?

I would say that was Antonio's best performance of the season.

His attitude and work rate was back to what we now expect of him.

Sam Byram "Will" come good.

Re: creswell
i dont think Bilic has a choice about where he can play Antonio at the moment - given the injuries to all our full backs.

3 at the back can be attacking as well as counter attacking - just needs to wing backs to win their battles.

god knows who will play on the left though. if Ogbonna has to play there then i'd bin it off and play a back four.

Saturday really emphasised how good he is and how much we've missed him. Real quality player.

And his understanding with Payet really can't be understated.

Re: creswell
Can we play the same system at home against a team that'll be happy just to sit back and defend?
